Course: TAC 2: Bombing Prevention & IED Countermeasures

Lead Instructor:  Alon Stivi
Access:  All   Status:  Active   Course:  $135.00

Societal resiliency is a communal responsibility, and we must become active participants in our own security.

Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) are terrorists’ weapon of choice and are used to strike Soft Targets. Terrorists have become proficient at concealing these devices in everyday items such as: backpacks, cookware, bottles, jars, trashcans, mail, toys, electronic equipment, vehicles, footwear, and more.

With the spread of radicalization and the persistent threat of Homegrown Violent Extremists, the use of these devices is proliferating.

As was the case in the Boston Marathon attack, heightened security and greater police presence is not enough to prevent such attacks. The Department of Homeland Security has called for the public’s help in thwarting these threats. In an attempt to harness ‘public wisdom’, DHS developed the “See Something – Say Something” campaign. This simple and concise message reminds us that we must learn “what to look for and how to report it”, as well as, “what to do and how to respond”.

Our Bombing Prevention & IED Countermeasures course teaches effective Prevention & Response.

In this unique course you will learn:
  • How to identify signs of production, preparation, and deployment of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED)
  • How to recognize behavioral, tactical, and circumstantial Pre-Incident Indicators (PII)

  • How to provide timely and safe Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR)
  • How to distinguish between suspicious and abandoned objects
  • How to harden your facility and Blast Mitigation principals
  • How to respond to bomb threats and an imminent detonation
  • How to evacuate or use Protective Action against a bomb
